Our Disney Adventure Part 1

Let me just start off by saying “WOW”. We had the time of our life. We never even imagined that we would enjoy ourselves as much as we did. We started our adventure in Downtown Disney since our park passes were not available till Wednesday. So we head to downtown Disney and our first stop was Lego land.

Tanner was so excited he didn’t know where to go top first. We were so overwhelmed with all the different lego sculptures.

Tanners favorite was of course the Star Wars displays.

He is so in love with Lego’s and Star Wars, it took us awhile to get him out of the store. I would recommend anyone going to Lego land. Its free and a great experience for the whole family. Two thumbs up.

Recipes

My family and I had decided that this year we are going to try new foods that we normally wouldn’t eat. We want to show our children that you at least need to try different things. They may not always look good but it could really taste great. We are aiming for more of a variety of foods. Its like we have a set of certain foods we eat and I think we are just board of the same ole same ole. So if anyone has any suggestions they would like to share with me and my family please feel free to send me as many recipes as you would like. My email address if busymomof_5@yahoo.com Thank you.

Thanking God for all His Many Blessings

I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank God for all his many blessings. I sometimes forget just how good God is to me and my family. I am wanting to take this tome to say God, thank you for allowing me to be apart of this family you have been so gracious to give me. I am thankful for my husband/best friend. Lord knows I don’t always show him how much he means to me. He is the other half that makes me whole. I just can’t see my life without him. And these five wonderful kids, God how I love them. I love being a mom. It is such a special honor to be called mom and I thank God for allowing me to be one of those special women. I am thankful for some great parents. Without them I wouldn’t even be able to raise my family as I have. They brought me up in a christian home and to love God first. They taught me that through Christ anything is possible. I have instilled this into my children and I hope when they have kids of their own they will teach it to their kids too. I know a lot of people loose touch with their extended families, but not mine. We are all about our families. We try to stick together and be here for one another no matter what. My friends play a special role in my life to. I am glad I can call on any of my friends and I know tat they will be there to listen to me. They let me unload of them and they give me great advice. I love them dearly and I am so thankful that God allowed me to cross paths with each of them. Some I had lost contact with but God allowed us to cross paths again. I love each of you girls deeply. I just want to thank each of you for putting up with me and for sticking by me through it all. I know without each one of you I would not be in college right now nor would I even be writing this blog. I have really came along way within the last year. God, you have been so good to me and I know I don’t always deserve the blessings you give me each and everyday, but I do want to say Thank You, God. And to tell you how much I love you for allowing these people in my life and for you being in mine. With this being said, try to take just a few minutes and tell those you love how much they mean to you and how much you love them. And most off all Thank Our Good Lord above.

Philadelphia Sent me a great Recipe to try…

Ok, so Philadelphia Cream Cheese   company  http://www.LoveMyPhilly.com  and http://www.CreamCheese.com sent me a recipe and asked me to make it and blog about my expereince and what my family thought of it.

Creamy Tomato-Basil  Pasta with Chicken

Prep: 30 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

3 cups penne pasta, uncooked
¼ cup KRAFT sun-dried tomato dressing, divided
4 small boneless skinless Chicken Breasts
1 cup fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
½ tsp. each garlic powder & black pepper
4 oz (1/2 package) PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese, cubed
2 cups grape tomatoes
½ cup KRAFT shredded parmesan cheese
8 fresh basil leaves, cut into strips

1.    Cook pasta as directed on package. Meanwhile, heat 2 tbsp. dressing in large skillet on medium heat. Add chicken, cover. Cook 5 to 6 minutes on each side or until done (165º F). Remove chicken from skillet, cover to keep warm. Carefully wipe out skillet with paper towel.
2.    Add remaining dressing, broth, and seasonings to skillet; cook 3 to 4 min. or until heated through. Add Neufchatel; cook and stir 2 to 3 min. or until Neufchatel is melted. Stir in tomatoes, cook 3 min.
3.    Drain pasta. Add to ingredients in skillet with Parmesan and basil, mix well. Serve topped with chicken.

It was a very simple recipe. It only took me from start to finish about 35 minutes, which with a family my size is not that long for a complete meal.

I did alter the recipe by cutting up the chicken. With a family of 7 it just seems to go a little further for us, so it was a matter of preference. I really enjoyed making this recipe I even got the kids involved. My family and I loved the recipe, we just can’t seem to get enough. The taste was so GREAT. What my family like about the recipe was the creaminess of the pasta and chicken. There was nothing that my family disliked about this dish. Other than when can we have it again. We will definitely make this recipe again, it will be one of our weekly meals that we have here in the Miller household. My family is all saying please make this for your family they will for sure Thank you…. We highly recommend this as a family meal. It is not to expensive to make and I can assure you many smiles after your family taste it…

Thank you Philadelphia for sharing your recipe. Happy cooking. :)

The finished meal.

New Year New Adventures

With the New Year finally here I am about to venture out and go to college.  I am majoring in Medical Office Administrator. I have always been a stay at home mom, but with the kids growing and and not as dependent on me. I have decided I need to do something for myself now. So I am in school for the first time in over 20 years. It is a huge step for me. (I am not fond of change.)  But with the support of my family and very close friends I am doing it. I know I will be so glad I did when it’s all over. I am writing this to say if there is something you have wanted to do but thought there just isnt anyway, believe me there is and if you just put one step n front of the other you can do it.  If you think finances will stop you it wont there is help out there for you. Financial Aid is a great resource for families on a budget. It allows you to pay for your classes and books without taking a penny out of your pocket. You do not have to pay it back either. If there is any money left after paying for your classes and books they write you a check and mail you the difference. It’s that simple. You first just have to believe in your self and then do a little digging and see what kind of help is out there for you. I am so happy I have took the steps tp further my education. It will help you, your children, and your finances in the end. Good luck in what ever you decide to do and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Looking for a car

We are looking for a car for our 16 year old daughter. She is 16 and really deserves the best car made but of course we can’t afford that. We are looking for something safe, gas saver, and low maintenance. Does anyone have any suggestions for us on a vehicle that would be good for a teenage girl? Wish us luck on our car search. :}

Letting Go

I am going through something I am sure lots of moms do. I have a 19 year old son who thinks living with mom and dad is the worst thing ever. He of course wants to move out. He technically has not been home in three weeks but his belongings are still at home. I as his mom am not dealing with this to well at all. This is the sixth time he has done this in the last three years. I know enough is enough. I just hate to see him mess up and get out in this world and do the wrong thing and regret it for the rest of his life. We have took everything that we possibly could from him, such as cell, car insurance, and car. He has gotten a car insurance, and a cell all on his own. He has no job so I am not sure how he will pay for that come next month. I have let him no that I do love him with all my heart and soul and will always be here for him, but this moving in and out is not only hard on me and his dad but also his younger siblings. I told him it has to stop here. Has anyone else been through anything like this? Does anyone have any advise for our family? We are desperately looking for and help or advice. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and offering any advice you might have. :)

Merry Christmas

This holiday season, my husband and I are trying to show the kids its just not all about getting gifts. With the economy being as it is we have seen a huge buying change. The kids are use to getting at least 15 to 20 gifts each. This year they will be lucky to get 10 each. Which yes that still is a lot but this year the gifts are priced a lot less than in years past. We are trying to show the kids its better to give than to receive. We have also reminded them that the real reason for the season is Jesus. They all ready know this but they sometimes loose sight of Christmas so we decided that this year would be a great year to remind them. We are going to get up Christmas morning and before even one gift is open we will gather our hands and bow our heads and each say a prayer and thank God for all he has given us and all he has done for our family. Each one of the kids are thinking of one thing in particular that they really want to thank God for in their prayer. We just feel that kids need to be reminded that its not all about getting, that  the real reason we are even able to celebrate Christmas is Jesus. And that without him we would not even be here on this Earth at all. SO stop for just a few minutes and remind your little ones That Jesus is the rason for the season. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family to yours.
